Depression Feelings

Feeling low is something all of us experience every now and then. Relationship problems, financial concerns, loss of a loved one; you name it. Life can present us with challenging situations, and it can sometimes be hard for us to walk with our heads up.  But normally, as circumstances improve, our sadness disappears, and we bounce back up into our usual happy selves.

But what if your mood isn’t improving despite there being any major stressor in your life?

What if your sadness has become too strong and has lasted for too long?

Suppose you’re constantly under the grips of hopelessness and despair despite there being no specific reason, and it’s interfering with your work, study, and daily activities. In that case, it could mean you’re dealing with something much more concerning – depression.

Unlike normal sadness, depression is a mood disorder that is much more complicated.

People suffering from depression can experience a myriad of psychological and physical problems, including:

  • Hopelessness and feeling as if life is worthless.
  • Feeling extremely tired despite good nutrition, sleep, and health.
  • Loss of interest in hobbies or any activities you once enjoyed.
  • Inability to focus, memory problems, or not being able to perform well in studies or work.
  • Feeling restless, angry, and experiencing overwhelming emotions.
  • Intense feelings of hatred towards oneself and even contemplating suicide.

Depression is a psychological illness that does not resolve on its own.

If left untreated, it can worsen and become an overpowering condition that can negatively affect every area of your life. However, as tough as depression may seem, it can be treated to a great extent, and your life can improve significantly with professional help.

If you experience some or all of the symptoms mentioned above, talking to your friends or family or seeking professional help can help you learn about your condition and how you can treat your depression to lead a happier and more fulfilling life.
